Default Arm rest attachment

The screw holes in the door brackets for my arm rests are over size. (I know it's hard to believe, but they are.) I was thinking of bonding a pieces of metal to the back side of the brackets with JB Weld. I think that would hold it allowing me to drill and screw. What do you think.

This also seems like an interesting product. http://www.por15.com/puttys.html

Or do you have "the" fix? I would appreciate your thoughts and experiences with this situation.

Another way to fix that problem is to rivet some sheet metal to fit over the holes and drill a new, smaller hole for a smaller sheet metal screw to fit in. It's probably a little cleaner than using JB weld and faster too. :smash:

Thanks...I have been going to ask that question...I am thinking rivets as the arm rest is used so much...

I used clip nuts on mine. U shaped sheet metal with a stamped "thread" in it, ask at the parts counter at the local auto parts store. It's tough to find the nuts with a deep enough throat to fit but worth the trouble. Now, if it pulls loose again I can just get new hardware and start over.
