Wanted to bring the Vette home from storage and she wouldn't start. The starter sounded like it was making a grinding teeth noise. Would it possibly be an elec. conection or is it possible the starter has loosend up? I didn't get to look at it closely because it's in a fairly dark garage. Any ideas?
Thanks
You dont mention auto or manual but you could have some bad teeth on the flex plate/flywheel. Put the vehicle in neutral and try to turn the crank bolt with a socket a few degrees.
Sounds like the Bendix or the solenoid are sticking. Neither is either difficult to diagnose or fix. You'll have to pull the starter and bench test to see if the solenoid is fully travelling and moving the Bendix to the end of the nose housing. Of course, you could just replace the starter under the assumption that's where the problem is.
