I just got the X pipe system for my 70 I'm not real happy with the two crimps and the X seems to restrict the flow plus it hangs low by the rear spring. I think I'm going to send it back.

It would appear from outside to be restrictive but bet it isnt..lot of internal area there. Crimps necessary for fitment?

How much power you trying to push through it?
Most premade catbacks take a little tweaking hack/fit to make perfect, sometimes you just get lucky.

I'm putting a 565 dart together probably in the 650 HP range

I think the crimps are for the e-brake cable.

That's exactly what they're for. In all honesty, with the motor you're building, if I were you I'd send it back if possible and find a quality shop to custom build a 3" mandrel system. I have the Pypes 2.5" mandrel system but I'm at about the 500 HP level, which is around the flow limit of a 2.5" system. Additionally, my exhaust guy had to spend quite a bit of time to cut & weld to make it fit right. Thankfully he's a friend but, at shop rates on top of the cost of the Pypes sytem, it would have probably been no worse to have a system built from scratch.
