I am wiring a whole MSD system into my 74 L48. It says to wire the positive line to the old coil into the MSD 6A box. I have TWO positive wires it seems. Which one should I use, and why do I have two? Here's a pic...
I went ahead and replaced it and just spliced both wires into the MSD 6AL and the car runs, kind of. It doesn't shut off unless I disconnect those wires :) Any idea where I went wrong?
Re: Replacing Stock Cool with MSD Blaster Coil (pingdashf)
If I remember the hookup correctly......
1. The ignition switch wire (+) runs to the "turnon turnoff I/P of the MSD. It's the one with the asbestos insulation on it. Look at the hook up diagram in the manual.
2. The other wire on your coil (-) is the feed from the points. That goes to the trigger I/P of the MSD. This is what triggers the MSD box to fire.
3. The MSD box has it's own coil lines that run back to the coil.
