Just failed the CA smog test, 1978 Corvette,L48, federal, how can I beat this test? It was a STAR test, I noticed he pinched a hose near the master cylinder, under STAR they cannot do repairs, they have some sort of machine that
Pressurizes the fuel system to run their test, everything else passed

 

vapor canister. 80 bucks

 

you would think by now that when a car is 35 years old that it would be exempt form the test. Used to be at 30 years old.

 

I am on my third one.
not easy to change and a cheap azz
vacuum valve failed.
not serviceable.

 

Can I sleathly plug the hoses leading to the vacuum canister?

make sure the number of hoses is right for your car.
Mine has 5

not sure how to plug a line to pass smog.
I know a sealed vacuum port on the canister leaked.
the sticker on the underside of hood will show the number of lines.

 

I have made sure the hoses are correct per pictures 1978 Chevrolet Service Manual, I suspect it is not holding pressure

 

Move to a less screwed up state!
