Had a set of steel shim head gaskets fail on a fresh rebuild. Not sure why, but I tore the motor back down to the short block, cleaned everything up and went with 1094 this time (same gasket, just rubber coated).
I want to check things out as I go. Anyone see a concern with installing a head, checking cranking compression, then installing the other and doing the same?
I just don't want to put the whole thing back together only to find a problem again. I'd rather know early.
