Default Power Mirrors acting up.....

It's happened before than fixed itself
My mirrors will work up and down but not left or right. Then other times they'll work fine. I'm thinking its contacts in the joystick but I've never played with power mirrors before.
Looking for a fix, replacement or is this something I have to live with???
Thanks.

Check the connector on the joy stick. Might just be loose or dirty.

I found a joystick on fleaBay. That fixed mine. Good luck.

Thanks Mike .
I'm assuming the plug connection.... Right? The joystick is a sealed switch I think.

I was thinking of a drop of WD40 on the joystick pivot but I'm afraid of shorting the switch out.

I found 1 supplier selling a replacement joystick for $65+ shipping...ouch!

Yes, a sealed switch with a connector. Who is selling the replacement switches? $65 is a little pricey. Ah the price of luxury

I found one or more of the wires had broken off the joy stick underneath. They are soldered on.

If it's happening on both sides I would suspect the joystick. If it is only happening on one side I would look at the motor in the mirror. I'm assuming it has one joystick that operates both mirrors.

It's both sides the left to right doesn't work, only up & down. I'm thinking of buying the new joystick. I'm afraid 10 years from now they'll be impossible to find but with my luck someone will repo them for 1/2 the price!

Anybody know which fuse controls that joystick? mine doesn't work in either direction. Don't know whether it is the stick or a blown fuse.
Thanks

I think its tied into the radio fuse but don't quote me. I think we're in the same boat. We're gonna have to take it apart and start probing with a test light.

The next question, how does the joystick come out????. Does pop out the top like a power window switch or do I have to pull the consul apart?

You have to pull the console apart. The joystick is held in with a clip underneath the console.

I'd try pulling the carpeted panel on either side of the console first. Maybe you could get to the clip and connector from the side. I'd try the driver's side first. My 2 cents.
