1979 No dash lights... but?
I've been trying to troubleshoot the many problems I'm having with the dash lights. I thought Id check with you awesome people on this forum, because its helped me before.
It started with NO dash lights at first. (no lights behind speedo and tach, plus the indicator lights were not working.) I replaced all the fuses and changed all the bulbs. I had to take the speedometer cable off to pull the cluster out enough to change the bulbs. when i positioned it back in, the indicator lights started to work, but only for a few seconds then stopped working. the driver side turn signal and brake light stopped working at the same time. (driver side running lights still work.) the front driver side turn signal light comes on, but doesnt blink. just stays on. This is driving me crazy..
what do you guys think it sounds like?

There is a big electrical connector on the back of the insturement cluster that plugs into the flex circuit board back there, problem could easily be there. Pull it back out and have a look, make sure the contacts are all there and in good shape.

And if you have cruise control, disconnect the speedo cable at the transducer and pull outward... you'll save a lot of headache. IMHO
