Default Issues with Coopers?

Used these many times back in the 90s never had an issue

Bought some 265/50/15s.. they seem to slightly bulge from the sidewall and not quite round etiher.
Replaced some new rallyes as they were bad also but still get a shimmy
Upon spinning them appears to be the tires

200 mi on them shimmied since new
Tire guy is trying to tell me they are flat spotted/nylon ply tires as I dont drive it much which is HS.

Any known bad batches? Or other brands with this size?

Anything can happen with tires, regardless of brand. I have Coopers on several cars and have yet to have a problem. There's no such thing as a perfectly round tire and no such thing as a perfectly round rim...all have tolerances built in. You might have a tire with a high spot mounted directly over the high spot in a rim, magnifying the effect. It happens.

If you have a truly out-of-round tire, the warranty should cover it.

I have Coopers on 2 daily drivers Passenger van and PU truck, and have had no issues with them. Not for or against them just saying no issues with them.

What kind of new rallys do you have. Been reading lots about bent rally wheels new from suppliers. Is it possible you have some of the new bent wheels?

what's the date code on them? Problem with tires for our cars is they aren't very common any more so they could be old new stock. If they sat on a tire rack for a few years, they could develop some out or roundness or flatspots.

Just put 2 sets of coopers on my 2 daily drivers: 225/55/16 ZR Zeon RS-3A's and 245/55/18 ZR Zeon RS-3A's-both ultra high performance all seasons. They are incredible for the money! BUT you are talking about 15 inch non performance tires which are very different. Switched out the 255/60/15 C3 tires a few years ago for 255/45/17 ZR's and would never go back-the difference is that BIG.

Ive used Pacer W Vintiques and Stockton wheel none of the rallyes are perfectly straight. All Chinese from what I understand. Think that part is handled..just the tires. The M/T on rallyes in the rear seem to be fine.
Ill ck the date codes on the tires uncommon size maybe they got stored funky in the warehouse??

The car (A body) would look great with 17s (can fit a 315 under the rear) but havent seen a wheel that really grabs my eye plus $$. I do like a taller sidewall have traction issues as it is thinking 17s would make it worse

One mans bulge is another mans .... well i aint gonna finish that ,, anyway

Get tire pulled and put it on a spin balance machine and go from there , It makes no sense to question coopers quality or lack there of until you have solid information. Tell tire guy to pull tires and spin balance them , for all you or he knows a weight fell off ..

bring it to a tire place that can measure road force. most chain tire places will be able to do this

This is what stinks about buying tires online. If we get a bad tire from the local tire place here at work (Chevrolet dealer), they send us a new one, whether we mounted it or not.

Forget the tire places. Have you tried calling cooper directly? If your wheels are still not round your tires never will be. How many times have they been removed and installed on wheels? I've heard that can screw up a tire also.

Get photos , I would like to see the bulge ! Also contact cooper directly and explain to them the issue. I had Pro Comp tires on a lifted truck that needed 40 ounces to balance no mater how it was rotated on rim.. I bought them on ebay , contacted Pro comp and they replaced the tire with no hassle.

Good idea I will get ahold of Cooper
I cant see the bulge looking at it from the side...from the top down when spinning it its very obvious then. When I can get a min I will ck the date code.

Took it to a higher end shop I know of today

Both coopers were bad. Trash

ALL 4 rallyes were bad Trash

1 M/T was separating badly coulda been from the side/side being out on the wheel who knows. Trash

I now have no wheels or tires on my car
SOB shop wont stand behind them that sold them to me.

Been 3 yrs even though I only got 200 mi on them

To say im more than pizzed is an understatement.

thats 5 rallyes Ive bought not one of them is any good either.
pacer W.Vintiques stockton..all junk.

Does ANYone make a quality product anymore?

So after having a new driveshaft redone a new rearend rebuilt chaning motor/trans mounts that (none of them) didnt need it found my vibration problem lol.

I can understand how a person could get a bad tire once in awhile, but what exactly is wrong with the rallye wheels you got?
I'm trying to wrap my head around what the nature of the problem could be with them - especially all 5.
Are they out-of-round visibly? Are they manufactured out-of balance to a large degree?
I know that brand (Wheel Vintique) is sold by most of the main Corvette parts vendors so I am curious...

All 4 had some side/side wobble in them 1 had a little up/down also

They can still balance out to zero but still be bad and cause vibration.

Tire shops areguement was they "balance out" so therefore they are good.

I can see as they go around they arent right.

There was one I replaced that was REAL bad out side/side and up down bad that was the first one I replaced. I know there is a tolerance but there is no way this is safe. Guessing thats what tore up the M/T at least. Looks like where the seam is the wheel goes out of round there. Blessing in disguise I pulled them off that tire was about to come unravelled on me.

really like the rallyes but gunshy to try another.

Surprised you could buy repops anywhere 10 yrs ago even from an unknown at a swap meet and no problems.

Maybe I got the one in XXX pieces that were bad, 5 times in a row lol.

I have heard bad things about the recent aftermarket rally wheels being out of round or not assembled true. I didn't buy any just based partially on that. I already have questionable wheels. Lol. I wonder if you could pay a vendor extra to send you a set that's been checked by them already. Seems they would be willing to do something like that.

Perhaps just a little gunshy at this point thats why I bought locally figuring if there was a problem and all.

anway now wondering if the coopers and the one m/t themselves were Ok at the start but got degraded by bouncing around and moving back and forth trammeling too much?

Whatever the case you are right.

Have the rim spun before ever mounting a tire. And make sure its perfect not "within tolerance" which in my amateur opinion are too generous.

Expensive lesson
