If I had a high production low HP c-2 or c-3 I wouldn't care about # matching .
On the other hand if I had a low production high HP c-2 or c-3 I would definatley care . The $$$ difference , wow factor ect ect .
So if your car is not a valuable car don't bash the NCRS , enjoy your ride !

Couldn't agree more. All things being equal, I'd love my 73 L48 convertible to be NCRS Top Flight but not enough to fake broach marks on my non original motor. It just wouldn't make much difference. On a similar 72 LT-1, the difference would be more significant.
I think it would be a very enjoyable exercise to try to bring a car through judging. You'd learn a great deal.
It just amazes me that the BJ crowd will buy a car for a hundred K believing that it's authentic and original and numbers matching because it has an NCRS award.
Ok, the reason I posted my post was because I hear people all the time saying my frame is matching... my engine is matching my cigarette lighter is matching blah blah and most of these people own average vettes so who cares? If it gives them wood then so be it but it doesn't make the car more valuable.
I just think i've got 'matching numbers' fatigue, everyone is trying to make out their car is the rarest with some oddball quote - one of only 108, black on black, auto with a luggage rack made in '76 etc.
If you take it to it's logical conclusion every car is different and is 1 of 1 due to the options.
Seems the Dealer BS has filtered down to the the average Joe.....
Luckily we don't have the same BJ crap over here deluding everyone as to what their car is worth.
Dealers started this **** and put the prices of these cars out of reach...
