Is there a way to gauge the worthiness of an uninstalled coil spring?
I've got my car up in the air and all the front suspension completely torn down to replace the rubber and shocks. As I research part costs/kits etc. I've been debating on replacing my coil springs while I'm at it. The suspension on my car wasn't great due to the worn out bushings but I don't recall there being a noticeable amount of bounce or sag in the front end.
I'm sure with all the new parts going on, it's going to feel much tighter and smoother than it was previously. I'd just hate to do all that work and be missing out on maximum improvement gain for "only" 50-75 bucks.
I agree, if there is no sag, they are probably good, bounce is handled by shocks. BUT, if I had it apart, for the measly $60 a pair of springs cost, I would just do it and not have to worry about it for another 30 years....but that's just me....
the problem is, most of the time when you replace springs your car looks like a monster truck after. Then you have to take them out again to cut coils to get the ride height where it was before you started
