Default Rocker ratio

Hello I'm putting new heads in my 79 L-82 with stock cam with heads that are 200cc. 64 cc. My question to anyone out there is what would be the better roller rocker ratio use 1.5 or 1.6 rocker ratio.i am thinking of going with 1.5 ratio rocker. Any advice and experiences appreciated.

A 1.5 ration will be about the same as the stock rocker, however going to 1.6 will actually change the lift of the cam slightly. If I remember I think it will be about .010 - .015. Someone else will probably give a definate lift increase but I dont think with a stock cam you will notice much of a difference in idle or performance.
Best of Luck

you will get more of a bump from the rise in compression and increased flow. a lot of people go 1.6 on the exhaust side. if you have the stock cam in it you will have a nice combination.

Is there any fit issues with valve covers using 1.6 rockers?

I put Scorpion short PolyLock full rollers under my stock valve covers. I use a double thick gasket, and had to remove the baffles. No other issues.

1.6 are not any taller than 1.5.

200cc runner is a little large for a stock 350......

Maybe, but it's a 355. So you are saying 1.6 rockers fit without having to double up on gaskets.not sure what you mean by baffles. Thanks

Divide the lift by 1.5 & multiple by 1.6. This will give you the valve lift. I did the same thing on the l48 which made a difference but ended up changing the cam and then went 1.6 on the new cam a little latter on. It made a difference birth times. I went 1.6 on both intake and exhaust.

Spend your money on a camshaft instead.Rockers aren't really going to help you at this point, chances are you will really be disappointed with those heads by not replacing that pick-up truck camshaft.

I used 1.6 roller tip rockers on my 75 L82
with very good results.
They also fit under stock L82 valve covers.

1.6s give 30 more numbers on the lift and if the holes arent the right size the pushrod goes thru the 1.6 will make it rub.
Not really worth it verses a new cam.

200cc runner aftermarket heads are going to be clearenced for 1.6 rockers. The L82 camshaft is not a pickup truck camshaft has around 224 .050 intake duration. I would do the 1.6 rockers to help the lift on L82 camshaft they cost no more to buy then 1.5. Sure there are aftermarket cams that could yield you more power if you want to pull the cam and lifters. The lunati vodoo cams were designed by one of the best camshaft guys in the business a few yrs ago have good lift, with one of these cams installed id use a 1.5 rocker. To be honest if i had it tore down that far i would change the cam. What springs are on your 200 runner heads, are they for flat tappit cams !!!! You could well be putting hydraulic roller springs on your flat tappit to much pressure.
