My EFE looks very bad and isn't connected to the exhaust. The vacuum line is still there, but the actuating rod isn't connected. The valve in the exhaust is pretty old and nasty- if I connect the EFE it makes bad noises.
I obviously don't need this nasty piece of rusty junk in my engine bay, but should I leave it there just because? I mean, do mechanics look for the EFE to pass emissions, would I fail if it went missing?
Also the whole concept sort of confuses me. If extra backpressure when cold was a good thing, wouldn't there be one on each side?
Thanks!
