I don't have a second pair of (shade tree mechanic's) eyes locally so thought I would post this picture to get opinions. Want to be SURE before I button this up for the final time. Don't want to lunch this engine after all of the work to install the retro-roller kit.
I had eyeballed it when I set it up but then, had second thoughts as I buttoned it up. So, this time, I've put a mirror where the radiator was (that is why the engine looks 'reversed') and shot a pic with my smartphone.
Counting the teeth on the crank sprocket, there are 4 to left and right and it looks 'straight up' with the cam sprocket.
Just be sure that your indexing of the 3 keyways with their associated marks is correct (couldn't see from the pix), otherwise you may be advanced or retarded by 4 degrees.

Yep. The crank gear is set up correctly. Thanks for checking.
Just pressed the damper back on the crankshaft. The comp install tool stopped and I thought I should be sure it was all the way on the crankshaft. Put a screwdriver in the flywheel and gave the tool one more good pull and, well, this just all got a lot more expensive...
The other end is in the snout of the crankshaft threads. Twisted it off in the crankshaft.
1) Get a drill and drill in it a little bit. Then reverse direction and see if it spins out. Since the puller/installer is not under load it may just unscrew without pulling anything.
2) I'd try drilling it out and then use an easy out on it... again hoping it spins out.
IMHO,
Willcox
