Air Box Pictures
The motor is a flat tappet, Howard cammmed 383 with vortec heads. I put on an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap manifold and 670 Street Avenger Holley carb.

I've been working on the car for a few years now and am always looking for ways to do things myself.
I was going to use a stock drop base L88 air filter base, but with the hood I have, I had ample clearance to use a flat one. This worked out really well since I don't have to modify the base to allow full rotation for the distributor.
The "Candy Box" on top of the carb was built with gutter screen aluminum for less that $5.00 from Lowes, and I rummaged through my stack of old Harley parts to find a carb cover that fit perfect.
That little hamster cage and screen cost almost 100.00 if you try it buy it retail!!!!

I put the filter in the hood. I was able to get this hood years ago, and got the filter box from Ecklers. The box did not fit at all and required a lot of trimming and remolding to get where I wanted it.
I am hooked on the fiberglass resin from West Marine. It cost a bit more than the 3M product, but is much better in my opinion.

I still have to do final sanding and smoothing, and painting. You can really see the filter and air tower in this pic.

Really large cowl induction opening should give me gobs of nice cold air.
