My ignition switch was very difficult to turn after work yesterday. I have a new one ready to install. What I would like some help on is the procedure to install it. I have a Autozone book on vettes, but it sucks. The AIM tells you how to install one, but I have to get the old one out first. I searched the fourm and only found a post for a C-5. Thanks for any help! Augie
By ignition switch, I'm assuming you're referring to the lock cylinder on the column that the key goes into. Basically, you have to disassemble the column down to & including the turn signal switch. Once you are there, you have access to a tab on the lock cylinder that when depressed releases the cylinder from the column when in the "Run" position.
One thing to consider, your binding problem might not be the cylinder at all. It could be the sector gear, rack or even the ignition switch itself (on the top of the column under the dash).
