Default Blown Header Gasket

So this weekend I found out I have a blown header gasket...
Hedman Headers on a mainly stock L82 (1978)

How brutal of a job is it to change a header gasket? Can I do it without removing the headers completely out out of the engine bay? Basically just sliding old gasket out, new gasket in?

Thanks

If you get lucky and the old gasket comes out easy, then you can do it without pulling the header.
If the current gaskets are the pressed paper type, you will probably have to pull the header so that you can scrape the old gasket material off of the sealing surface.
If you have to pull the header, it's worth while to lay a straight edge on the sealing surface to make sure its flat.

Get the soft aluminum ones. I can't remember who makes them since it was so long ago (12+ years) since I switched to that type I forgot.

Remflex

Which side? Pass side with AC bracket is much more involved than driver side.

I've heard good things about Remflex.

It is the Passenger side, but the AC AC was removed years ago so hopefully it won't be too much of a Bee Sting to get out....
