I tried it last night. My setup was more light the Z configuration. My motor and trans was about 3/4 inch off center. There is some adjustment in the trans mount area. I adjusted accordingly. I the rearend was off as well but not by much. I tried to move it but there was no adjustment anywhere. On the 81s the rearend case is all one. On the earlier models there is a bracket used to mount the front of it to the frame.
I drove it down the road and there was a big differance. A lot smoother. I am splitting hairs now, but at 65~70 there is a whisper of a vibration. I can't ask for anything better from a 33 year old car. Thanks pauldana for your help.

Welcome.... this is so common on these cars, yet most do not know about this fix, or understand it... or for that fact, want to believe it... but the symptom is always the same... 65-70mph... bla bla bla...., and its amazing how little adjustment makes so much differance. it took me a long time to figure it out, and it was hard for me to belive also at the time... god bless p:-)
