Dying interior parts ??
Pulling the interior apart ( partially )and dying the pull handles and center piece that the parking brake goes through.
My question is what other parts can be dyed relatively easy ? Can I or should I dye the top of window panels, they are shiny. Don't really want to get into taping and that sort of thing but if there are other pieces that that can be removed and dye I would appreciate any comments,
I'm not sure what you're wanting to do. I dyed my complete interior in my 68 with the exception of the carpets (new set). The previous owner had dyed everything black.
Technically, get the parts clean enough, you can pretty much dye any and all of it.
When I redid my interior, I redyed just about everything and it came out very nicely. Dash pad, all plastic trim, door panels, even the vinyl portions of the seating areas. It's not show quality, but everything is consistent and nobody has ever mentioned seeing any defects.
I used the SEM system, they have a cleaner and prep spray before you dye. worked out very well. I saved my original door panels and actually used the dye on the carpeted portion. Looks great.
As with any refinishing, prep is key.
Just as FYI, I was not changing the color, I was just refinishing my black.

Where do you get this SEM system, I would imagine I would have to cut through 30 layers of Amoral. And you said you used it on the cloth part of the door panels ? And my dash goes up to a certain point and then it it is black, so I can tape that off and spray everything under that I am using the same color?
SEM is the way to go they have the factory shades it dries the perfect sheen too not like the garbage at the auto pts store. Light dust coats sets up quick.
Kick panels seat base and steering wheel in SEM super super happy and no the sun or sweat doesnt affect it at all.
I have dyed dash and door panels, but not seats. I just was concerned that on a hot humid day the dye would start to come off on our clothes. Is this unfounded as I would like to do my seats this spring. They are black C5 seats and would like to make them 2 tone with red inserts. If the dye comes off on my wife's clothes the doghouse would be a step up from where I'll be living.
Just read above post about SEM, looks like my concerns have been answered by going with SEM.
SEM Color Coat is awesome. Comes ready to go in the gun. I use an HVLP spray gun to put it on. As it's been said, clean, clean, and clean again the bits you want to dye. The stuff isn't actually dye as such, but a type of lacquer with a flex agent. I even used it on my steering column!

You can also get the SEM system in a rattle can. When I did my interior, I didn't have a garage or compressor and I used the cans.

I used it on the carpeted portion of the door panel. My black carpeting had sun faded (my 78 has carpeting on the bottom and vinyl on the upper). Did a great job. I have not used it on fabric.
I guess I should chuck the Corvette America rattle can I bought ?
if you bought ColorBond, it is a really good product. you can use it on any part that is plastic ,vinyl, or carpet and not worry about it rubbing off ever. I did my seats a yr ago and no need for touch up. it is really different chemistry than SEM is.

No it says Corvette America Leather, Vinyl and Hard Plastic Refinisher. There ain't a chance in heil I'm spraying dye on my leather seats anyway but if I could do a door panel that would be worth it.

The can you have is just rebadged SEM.
Search the archives and you will find pics with the label removed.
All of the vinyl recoloring paints are essentially the same. Works very well on vinyl/plastic. I wouldn't use it on leather either.
