I'm having trouble with replacing my front bumper. The old one was cracked so I bought a new fiberglass one and I'm in the process of trying to fit the new one. I've taken the old one off and when I went to test the new one this happened ... and so I looked on here to see if i could find an answer so I found some stuff on replacing bumpers and I read about shaving pieces down to make a better fit so Ive gotten this far and I'm totally stuck. The center piece (not the honey comb) wont budge. I think I have to remove that to get to the part I have to shave to get the fit. Am I wrong? If not what the hell do I do to take it off? I've got a combination of rust bolts and no idea witch ones to tackle to take off this piece. Thanks for the help.
The entire bumper assembly can be moved up or down by loosening the attach bolts where it attached at the frame. The holes are slotted. As for fore / aft adjustability, there are shims between the bumper and the long angled supports. The rubber license plate piece also may have a shim between it and the bumper. I have a 77 as well, and have not yet mounted my fiberglass front bumper, but I can see that all of this adjustability is available.
