Default '80 Carpet Installation

Anyone do a carpet installation lately? Just bought a carpet set and new dash from Willcox. Checked the forum for threads tagged with "carpet", found some installations with glue, without glue, trimmed, not trimmed, etc.
Anyone do one recently with great results? I'm open to any and all suggestions and input. Also, if it matters, the carpet is going over a fresh installation of Dynamat......Thank's, Vince

I did mine a few months ago. I used very little 3M spray adhesive.
You will need to trim the carpet in places. I used my old carpet as a base. You will just have to put the carpet in and out quite a few times and make small cuts as you go. It took awhile to get it correct but it turned out really nice. If you look at some posts from Alan71, he did a great job on his carpet.
Take your time and good luck.

I just did mine as it was faded ,, Pulled seats and side covers on the shift tunnel and the lower kick panels in front of each door, on mine the entire floor area was like new so I just blew it out with air set it in place made tiny adjustments . The only place I used glue was on the kick panels.

The AIM helps. It has several diagrams of the factory installation.

Lay the carpet out in the sun for a few hours, if you can, so it will be a little more pliable. Be careful when trimming, leave plenty of extra material until you are positive that you have it installed the way it will sit permanently. Like my Granpappy used to say: You can always cut it a little shorter, but you can never cut it longer.

I put the Willcox set in my near-daily driver last year after Christmas. The fit was good and careful trimming allowed a nice job. I used spray adhesive on the rear wheel wells, the cargo door tops, the kick panels, the transmission tunnel side covers, the rear speaker covers, and the seat backs. Otherwise, the factory screws and trim plates hold everything in place nicely. I am pleased and recommend the set from Willcox.

Awesome guys! Thank's for all the advice. As the car is almost done, I can honestly say that the Forum built this car with me. Thank's Again, Vince
