Default Secondary Hangers

Which way does the rich/lean scale go with Qjet secondary hangers? I've got a K, M and N. I put them side by side and can't see any difference... :confused:

The difference between those are the height at which they keep the rod in the jet. A hanger that is adjust higher will give you full rich faster as your secondaries open.

All the different hanger can be adjust to any hanger height. By Lars document,

"With the secondary airvalve held wide open and the secondary rods pulled all the way up, measure the distance from the top of the rear wall of the choke horn to the secondary rod hanger hole in the hanger. This distance should be 41/64”. Bend the hanger to adjust – you have to adjust each of the two sides independently. You now have a “performance” rod hanger."

If you want to lean or richen your mixture, you have to play with the rods.

A = richest .

I ordered B and G and I'm using the B. Like Lars and the above post said they can be bent to achieve a similar result.

They go from B rich to V lean. So all of yours are in the middle w/ K richest.

Thanks guys... There must be so little difference between the K & M & N that it's just plain hard to see. I'll use the K and do some measuring. Now what did I do with that micro ruler and magnifying glass. :D

Oh, one other thing... How does one determine the proper lean/rich need aside from this basic measurement? Or is it simply that on most modded engines (or ZZ4 in my case) the Lars "performance" setting is what we all probably need? -OR- am I getting way too **** and should just go DO IT and shut up? :lol:

The diff. is .005 from 1 hanger to the next. What are your sec. rods? You need a stopwatch. You can also space the hanger higher.

Huh? Stopwatch? So I can see how long it takes me to give up? :p:

The rods are CH.

I believe that Lars recommendation was that any hanger would work. The dimension you are looking for is 41/64" from the holes in the hanger to the top of the choke wall with the secondaries fully open.

The full details are in the tech paper of Lars that is posted at http://www.corvettefaq.com .

Ok... Made a gauge that would fit perfectly to measure 41/64". With the rods in place and the gauge resting on the rod's pin, I get 44/64". Since we're talking 64th, it's important to know exactly where to measure from. Top of hole like I did, or center, or bottom?? :crazy:

'Nuther thing... When adjusting the spring tension for the secondaries, I guess the idea is to make it as free of tension as possible without bogging. Lots of road tests, I suppose... Anyway, for those of you that have done this, how loose does your airvalve feel once you've got it right?

Chris,

I used the center of the holes and my secondary air spring is at about 7/8 of a turn past where it just touches. Just remember that small (very small) adjustments on the spring make big changes.
