Idle Speed
Once warm my vette seems to be ok sitting in park but once in drive I find myself having to put a little gas to keep ticking over. This makes going to reverse annoying as having to have a little gas and foot on brake means reverse is abit of a clunk/bang when selecting. Would I need to be adjusting my idle speed here?

Raise your in gear idle to where it runs without dying. Usually between 600 and 800.
If you have a wild cam, 1k up may be necessary.

If you have a Q-Jet, the idle screw is on the drivers side of the carb facing forward. Hard to miss! Screw it clockwise half a turn when warm and check to see if the problem's still there. Repeat if necessary.

Very Interesting post.....Could I get a suggested "in-gear" idle rpm for my 78/stock 350/auto?????.......as in what would be too high vs too low????????????
Seems like the 525-550 is just too low...............(as set by my old school vette tech).....according to his version of GM tech data.......
