Timing chain....??
Drove the car to work today, running so good. Stopped at the neighbors to see his progress in changing out the original motor for a ZZ4 in his '74. Went to start the car and the car was still real warm and an unusual noise on cranking and then funny spinning noise during the cranking to start the car. Fuel seeming to push back up through the carburetor. My ZZ4 friend thinks the timing chain jumped the sprockets.
1.) Any diagnosis tips are extremely welcome.
2.) If the timing chain jumped the sprockets, have I trashed the valve train, bent valves and push rods, did the piston hit the valves?
3.) I'm mechanically inclined, did the brakes, removed the interior completely, refurbished and replaced, diagnosed and repaired droopy headlights, r&r distributor. Is a timing chain fix in my league? I realize that none of the previous stuff is the same as the timing chain gig, but is it in the realm of possibility?
4.) If this is farmed out to someone how much am I looking at in terms of cost?
Thanks for any insights anyone can offer.

Try again after it cools off - if the timing chain jumped, the problem won't go away. If it starts and runs okay, it's more likely what I described above.
