i just got my vette running and took it on the road for the first trip since back together. it is strong by the way. however at about 2000-3000 rpm there is an annoying shake. it seems to be coming from the motor not the axles or driveshaft bec it does it when the car is not in gear. does anyone have any idea what it could be ballencer flywheel out of ballence. CRANKSHAFT???? :U that makes me sick. thanks
I once had an out-of-balance fan on a '65 'vette. I would shake the engine in such a way, that it felt like an ignition problem. The shakes would start around 1500 RPM. Just something for you to look at.
It has been quite a while, but I am pretty sure that I removed the fan, put everything back in place, and ran the engine without the fan for a few moments. The vibration was completely gone. Got a new fan on it, and all was well. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you on this.
Assumming you've tried revving to the same rpms in neutral with the car stopped,I had the same problem with a TransAm once. I dropped the inspection cover and disconnected the three converter bolts. Problem went away. I unfortunately had to replace the torque converter.By the way, don't be cheap on the converter you install or you WILL be replacing it again.
