I'm running a zz502 with the stock '69 copper/brass small block radiator. If I recall correctly, I think I used the small block hoses. Had to shorten the bottom one a couple inches because the big block is longer and the water pump is closer to the radiator.

I may try it.I emailed dewitts and they have a big block radiator that fits a small block support but I hate to buy another one at 900 bucks and still have to play with the hoses. The one I have now cools my car with ac on very well.Idle for thirty minutes in the driveway with ac on.Never gets over 180.

In the 73s and 74s, Chevrolet used the same radiator for the big block and small block engines. You might be OK.

$900 for a radiator is ridiculous. Personally I could never justify that.

Anyway, my 502 has a 180 T-stat and only once has ever gotten any hotter. I was in heavy traffic once on a 95 degree day and it went up to 190. But i don't have AC.

I tried to answer this yesterday but the server was down or something. Anyway, you will be fine. The only dfference is 1.5" wider for the BB. The information you got my email does not apply here because the sb-bb upgrade is for the small (pin mounted) radiator. I'm assuming you have the 26" unit with the filler neck on the radiator, and no surge tank?

I think it also has to do with the level of performance. I'm running a high compression bored and decked 355 with Brodix heads and a Lunati Voodoo cam. With an electric water pump and dual electric fans, I'm running just north of 200, and the weather hasn't even turned hot yet. Members on the forum have told me that the Dewitt's is the only way to go. And judging by some of the testimonials, I tend to agree. $900 bucks doesn't seem too bad when your looking at the level of protection for your investment.

Is your 355 making more than 540 hp?

If my copper small block radiator cools my 502 (actually it's a 509), why wouldn't it cool your 355?
