Default '81 cruise control question

Hey guys, I'm getting close to mating the body and frame back together so I've been spending some time on the engine bay cleaning up the wiring and hoses. ran into a little issue though. when I opened up the wire loom going to the cruise I found one green wire that was really long and doubled over a couple times, in an effort clean things up a bit I was going to cut the extra wire out of the loom and resolder the ends back together. when I cut the wire and stripped it I found it was a single strand and made of something you can't solder to. i'm assuming this wire is needed for some type of resistance ????

any ideas of what it's for and if it will be ok to use a crimp union to rejoin the two ends

I'm listening in here. I have the same question about this long wire. When I took my car apart I had the same crazy long green wire and figured the same as you, that it was for resistance. There has to be a better way than adding 20' of extra wire to get resistance tho.....

Looking forward to replies.
