Re: How many hours do you work in a week? (bence13_33)
It depends. When I am out to sea 24-7, when in port, over 100hrs/wk. and when I am in the office, 30ish.
And people ask me why it took a year to do my engine conversion.

I with ya, Binnie. Got a long day tomorrow--summer classes--gotta go in from noon to 2. Bitch of a long day, man. Good thing the car's running like crap so I have something to do! :D
Re: How many hours do you work in a week? (Twinnie)
Depends on how you count. I spend about 30 hours in the office, but I put in another 20+ at home in the evenings, at night, whenever I fit them in. There are some times when I need to put in 80+. And then there's school, but it's related to work research, so that depends on how you book keep the hours. ;) But then there are the weeks (not nearly often enough!) when I really only get the 30 in. You gotta love a consulting atmosphere. :jester: ~Juliet
Re: How many hours do you work in a week? (JRD77VET)
I usually work 46-48 hours in a five day week. Worked saturday and put in 58 hours this week. Makes for a nice paycheck but I'm beat! :yesnod:
:seeya
It depends on the workload... I usually work40 - 43 hours a week. However - if we have to meet deadlines and we are behind I work up to 60 hours but that doesn't happen too often. I don't mind working overtime because I like big paychecks....
Re: How many hours do you work in a week? (JRD77VET)
My schedule is toooo weird to explain in terms of hours :smash:
It's easier to understand in terms of total 12-hour work days per year.
And that come to 3.5 months on the job every year. The 8.5 months off per year are six months scheduled off due to the schedule and the rest is vacation.
Now if they would only allow me to work those crummy 3.5 months straight through and take the rest off at one time I'd be a REAL happy camper. :D :D :D

JRD77VETTE, Don't worry about moving this to off-topic. I'll let it stay here for awhile since it seems to be generating some interest, and move it to off-topic later when it slows down. Thanks for the concern though.
On a good week, I can keep it down to 40 hours. It is salaried. One of our main customers is Qwest, and when they get busy, we get extremely busy, and then it gets hard to keep it under 50-55 hours. I certainly don't like working all those extra hours for no extra pay, however I like it even less when a moron boss makes me work extra hours just to show upper management. I prefer that if I really need to work long hours, it be my own decision. I do what I need to to get my job done. I'm in a job now that let's us have that kind of autonomy.
The people that have managed to "break out" and not have to have a boss or a corporate ladder above them, I applaud you. I would someday like to break out myself, but having a degree in electrical engineering has pretty much doomed me to always work for a boss...unless I invent something and get rich. Sigh.
Re: How many hours do you work in a week? (JRD77VET)
Since I don't yet have a Corvette to work on I'm trying to work as much as possible. This week I put in 41hrs. poopiety pay though, only $6.50/hr. I try to get atleast 35 hours a week, if I can find enough stuff to do for the janitor part of my job I can get more. Technically I have three jobs, but they are all at the same place, a movie theater. One is a normal behind the counter employee, another as a manager/projectionist, and the third as the janitor. Right now to get extra hours I'm scraping gum off the floor. Yummy. When I'm not working a shift that day I'm working on the shop so it'll be ready to build engines and fix the damn Corvettes (should have three in the family by that time) in the winter.
