I'm fairly new to this forum , I've had my 73 coupe for over a year now
and have redone the interior and installed chambered exhaust and my next mods were going to be the rear diff. and front rebuild until just yesterday I noticed
white smoke comeing from my right exhaust I don't have a clue what this is or why all of a sudden I'm seeing smoke after I've been driving for at least 30min.
and when I stop smoke comes for about 10sec.and then goes away. What Gives??
I haven't any leaks anywhere. Please can someone help or point me in right direction on what to look for..
I've done that no oil the white smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe heavy for about 10sec. and
then just a little after that when you are back there looking
Thanks for the input I wasn't expecting on taking on another project(like my engine)just took vacation time to do the rearend
now this when will it stop
Where do I begin?? All of what you all been saying sounds like it could be one or the other
Question is what do I check first?? Car been running great and still runs good except for the
smoke when I stop for awhile and then start back up also when I turn engine off kind of hesitates then shuts off
Is IT an auto ? if so easy check just pull the hose of the modulator and see if oil drips out of the hose . sometimes you have to cut the hose open to see the oil film on the inside of the hose. This is a comon problem with T 350 trans
Cant remember if the 400 has one .I think they do . Its on the pass. side at the rear of the trans . A 2in. type can with a hose poked into the end of it
All in All just want to know where to begin testing?? Takeing the heads to mach. shop for valve job sounds pretty easy(I think )
might just be a bad seal, I have to change plugs and wires anyways so I thought having the valve job done would be the cheapist and easiest
to do and re seal everything, by doing this I was hoping it would solve problem :blueangel: Just praying its not rings cause I know that would be a big
problem to fix

Re: white smoke?? (Stevo)
White smoke? Are we not thinking antifreeze? Head gasket? Oil-blue. Rich gas-black. Antifreeze-white?
---should read "I'm with Stevo!"
Anytime I've had white smoke coming outa my exhaust, its always been a head gasket. Your engine is trying to burn coolant=steam. Are you loosing coolant? Is the engine running like crap? It will Your problem will only get worse and usually at the end you will have coolant spewing from the head/cylinder joint.
