Default Which exhaust system?

I have decided to treat my 76 L48 to a new exhaust. I am nearly certain I am going with Corvette Central's dual exhaust conversion because of all the good things I have read about it here. I want the exhaust to be louder, but not annoying. First thought is to go with the Magnaflow mufflers, but worried it may be too loud. I assume that using Corvette Central's stock mufflers will be a little louder, due to the elimination of the cat, but I don't think it will be much of a change. I know many of you have used this exhaust kit and hope I can get some input to help me decide which way to go. Any comments on this kit or any others would be appreciated.

This may help. The link is a short video demonstrating the sound of a CC dual exhaust system with stock (not Magnaflow) "hideaway" mufflers.

I bought the CC's 2 1/2" true dual system with Magnaflows. As is, I thought it was too loud. For the first ten minutes, it was thrilling, after that, not so much. Hated 'em. (I'm 55 now, been a while since I was a kid.) So I went to my local Meineke muffler shop (Mountainside, NJ), and had them weld in a 2" H pipe. MUCH quieter on the highway, slightly quieter around town. Now, I like 'em. It's a Corvette, after all, not a Buick.

I have been very happy with my CC 2 1/2" system on my 72. Both as a SBC and then also when I swapped to the BBC. I cut and welded in for the BBC headers and have been very pleased.

I had the magnaflows with my CC exhaust system. The resonance made my ears hurt. I replaced them with the stock round mufflers.
I'm happy with it now, it is not too quiet either.

Just goes to show sound is subjective. I have the Magnaflows on mine; SBC, BBC, headers or not I am very happy with the sound. I my try the H pipe just to see what that dose to the sound of the headers.

The H pipe makes it slightly quieter at low RPM's, and significantly quieter at higher RPM's. Also, the quality of the sound changes a bit. A true dual exhaust has a rowdier sound than one with the crossover. More of a "snarl" or "bark", perhaps. Once you put the crossover in, it mellows the sound a bit. It was noticable to me, anyway. I miss that rowdiness some.

This ain't no Buick either...

Open headers... I'd run it like that all the time if I could

Going with the Pypes SCC10R SS system.I have a set of OBX SS headers sitting in the box.Wanted to go all SS for corrosion resistance.I'm surrounded by salt water! Race Pro muffler sounds pretty good on the video's.The Magnaflow seems to raspy and I can hear popping when the throttle is lifted.Son had some Magnaflows on his Mustang and it popped all the way down the hill, and was loud as heck! Might be ok for flat terrain but hilly terrain no way's !

I installed a Magnaflow complete system on my 73. It is not totally stock but the Magnaflow's get lots of compliments and are not too loud from the drivers seat.
