Default Engine wiring harness ID needed

As shared in another thread, I am preparing to install a points style distributor after a mechanical breakdown with the HEI. The switch to the original style distributor forced a close inspection of the ignition wiring and I need help identifying the crinkled wire in the photo with the two insulators(?) It is orangish up close, but two red wires emanate out of the insulator in the back of the photo. No clue-

The white wire was cut and spliced with a red wire and plug to fit the HEI--the other side of the white wire was dead-ended, but still attached to the starter solenoid. Bubba visited two other spots in the wiring closer to the starter.

Thanks

Those 2 nasty looking wires coming out of the black cylinder looking thing are the fusible links.

I would swap out that fusible link. Looks pretty bad. When I changed out my engine, I viewed my engine wiring harness and went with a new one. That 40 year old wiring on my car looked scarry.

Bubba may have put the switched power that goes to the dizzy as an extra wire to the starter. Not really sure though as mine is hooked up with an MSD box.

Thanks, this pdf really helped me understand the fusible links--http://content.chiltonsonline.com/content/images/9071/images/9071fig639.pdf

Double check your year but here is how it should look for the point dizzy.

A yellow wire connected to the starter solenoid "R" goes up to your coil terminal that has the yellow wire and also a black wire with pink printing.
