Default Trailing Arm Movement, Is this Normal?

Rebuilt trailing arm with new spindle. Half shaft replaced with new U Joints.
Noticed a lot of movement from the trailing arm and half shaft looks out of round in rotation.
The Video is of the lh side.

The rh side has very little movement.

Is this normal?
If its not does it look like I need a new Half shaft.
Thanks
Craig

To me, it looks like the u-joint is not sitting in the axle end yoke correctly.

Make sure that both of the u-joint caps are sitting in the yoke and between the raised portions in the yoke.

If it seems the caps won't go together close enough to fit in the yoke then check to see if some of the need bearing/needle rollers fell into the bottom of the u-joint end cap/bearing.

just as important, don't run a C2/C3 Corvette up on jack stands with no wheels and the suspension hanging.

If you did not use a special tool to do that, then the flange might have bent.

At full droop the control arm might move up and down a little but something is out with the half shaft. It will vibrate like crazy with a wobble like that!

Found the problem, when I pulled the half shaft .
The yoke end u joint cap was not seated correctly
Because of a needle bearing mis aligned.

I never have time to do it right the first time ,But I always have time to do it right the second time!

Mike,

Can you elaborate a little, for newbies like me? Is it because at full suspension-extension, the half-shaft u-joints are pushed passed their normal range of motion?

Or am I all wet?

Thanks.

Peter

On a C2/C3 rear suspension, the amount of downward travel is controlled by the length of the shock absorber. If it is more than about 14" long, the Ujoints bind at full droop.
