81 Radiator removal
Beautiful day here in the SW of England so out on a run, tops off, windows down...cruising!
Anyway, just pulled in for some gas ( $9.17 per UK Gallon!
) and on return to car saw dripping from underneath. Never a good sign.Anyway, I have a very slight coolant leak from the passenger side, possibly around the lower hose connection but the spout it connects to seems to be loose.
Thinking it may just be easier to pull the radiator when I get home to inspect it.
Just wondered what was involved in the job. If I was at home I could use my AIM and workshop manual but Ive a few miles to go and will be watching the temp gauge.
When the rad is out, will be a good time to flush it all through and renew the coolant.
remove air cleaner and ducting.
jack up the car. drain the radiator.
pull off lower hose.
If you have tranny lines disconnect those (this will be the hardest part of the job).
remove upper radiator hose.
remove cooling fan.
remove shroud bolts and tilt the shroud towards the engine.
remove upper radiator brackets.
get on one side and a friend on the other side and slide radiator up and out.
install in reverse order.
