Hi, I am continuing work on my dad's 1977. I have two problems I am still chasing. The first one is that the directional lights blink very fast. All the lights work, they just blink very fast. I thought he may have installed an incorrect blinker relay and bought a new one and put it in. It does the same thing. Any other areas to check. The second one- The car had been sitting and had a bad rear brake caliper. The pedal went to the floor and the dash BRAKE light came on. I replaced the caliper and everything is back to normal, except the light is still on. Is there a reset of some kind?
Brake light comes on for two reasons. The emergency brake would be one click up on the handle and not breaking the connection with the console, therefore keeping the light on. Two, the proportion valve may be clogged or not enough fluid in the brake lines. Again, little more info on the brake job needed.
Direction signal. Are you sure all the lights work? Just double check. Do the signal lights in the tach/speedo work? Those may be the ones that are out.
If the pedal went to the floor with a bad caliper the proportional valve probably tripped off center. This happened to me quite a few years ago and I don't remember how I recentered the valve. Hopefully someone will have the answer.
