As many of you know, I run C5 Z06 wheels and tires. I notched the frame, mounted offset trailing arms, and modified the sway bar and mount to get those 18x10.5" wheels with 295/35-18 tires to fit inside the wheel well. This is all mounted with 2" adapters for about 6" of backspace.
Well I just bought a set of rear C6 Z06 wheels and tires. 19x12" wheels with 325/30-19 tires. For grins I attempted to mount these with the 2" adapters. No joy, the tires hit the frame and sway bar. I tried with 2.5" adapters. It fit and looked good until I drove down the street. The tires rubbed against the frame. I will try with 2.75" adapters next. Also, if I'm going to run these, I will need some slight flares. Josh of Custom Engineering Vettes sells 2" flares that look very stock, and are barely noticeable. When I'm ready, I'll know whose flares will cover the rubber. What do you guys think?
IMHO, of the two, I like the C5 wheels. The size (diameter) looks like it belongs with the car. The C6 wheels just looks a little big for the C3...just my .02. Still lookin' good though!

The C6 wheel/tire combo is 27" tall, the C5 wheel/tire combo is 26" tall. The original P225/70-15 tires were 27" tall also. But I see what you mean. These tires are massive.
I am getting ready to pull the trigger on all four flared panels from Josh. Looking at the KAOS flares. I think it's awesome that Chris got 19x12 under there in the rear. They look good and maintain a decent, streetable ride height. I will post back when the transaction is complete. I think the 2" rear flares will look great Bee Jay. The C6 ZO6 wheels look great but why not open her up with the 4" rear flares? It gives you such a "wide" option of choices if you ever get bored of your C6 wheels.
What kind of weight difference? Are they OEM wheels or repos?
That shot from behind looks really mean
I'd also be interested to see if you are gaining weight going with the larger rim. For me the car looks fine with the C5's......save your money and look elsewhere to drop more weight, aesthetically the car looks really good and has a great stance now.
C5 Z06 wheels look better! The C6 wheels don't look right on a C3 IMHO. I have those chromed C6 wheels on my 10 Z06 and really prefer the silver Z06 wheels but the deal on my 2010 Z bought new was too good to pass up.
This is where it rubbed. Right where the frame kicks out for the shock mounts. I started to trim that when I notched the frame, but that is where my roll bar mounts.

I like the idea of the 2" flares. It's more stealthy. Competitors scratch their head a lot more when a stock appearing car is fast compared to a car with big flares (and wings and such).
I like the look from behind--the width looks great--and I think the flares would really look good. I'm not sure on side view--the rim looks very tall on the c3--just my opinion, find an 18" that wide and add the flares! Course that wasn't A or B. sorry!
I LOVE the C6 wheels, and I love them on your car!! Of course you'd need the 2" flares to complete the look, as i think they look bad in the stock wheel wells. They stick out too far. I too would be curious as to the weight, especially in your case since you've done all kinds of stuff to save weight.
