I have had to replace my window handle twice within the last year. Granted it's a cheap one that you pick up at Autozone for around $6, but I was wondering whats causing this. The handle works well for a few months then spins and doesn't move the window regulator unless you firmly press the handle in. The metal fitting on the handle and door doesn't look stripped. Is it just a weak handle retaining clip or just cheap metal? Someone told me the clear handles have a deeper fitting than the black handles and might work better. Has anyone had a similar issue? Thank you.
The cheapo handles usually work just fine but if you have any wear on this shaft they usually strip out quickly. Especially if you have some regulator roller wear inside the door. (or basically any additional binding).
Go to the Help section of any Auto Parts supply store (PEP BOYS,AUTO ZONE,ADVANCE) and get the better of the handles offered.....the ribbing
is cast deeper into the shaft......the one that you describe is not cast as well ,the mold has been used for 100 years and has to be replaced...
