Default Courtesy light switch

I have a 68 vette and having a problem with left side courtesy switch. Light will no turn off when button is pushed. I traced wires and found that the white wire goes to other white wires and right side works so I think white is fine. The other is black and I think it goes to the ignition switch and I think this is the problem. Can anyone tell me if this is correct before I run a new wire?
Thanks
Chuck

My 68 AIM has a wiring diagram in it. UPC 12 D3 shows two 20 gauge whites to the switch; no black. One white runs to the light switch; the second runs to the ignition switch.

Thanks for the info. I replaced the wire harness with a good used one from someone on the forum stated as a 68. I looked in my 68 manual and it shows two white wires. In a 70 manual that I have from an other project it shows a white and a black wire and the black goes to the ignition. I am looking for some conformation before I replace the black wire.
Thanks
