I have an aftermarket AC system installed. This spring I had to add R134 and it was working ok. This week I had to add another can so I must have a small leak which I will have to find.
Anyway, since I added the second can it is causing the compressor to stop turning when I turn it on. It seems to start working if I turn it off and on a couple of times while I am driving. Yesterday I was driving home from work and the system was fine. It was in the low 80's outside and I was checking the air from the vents to be in the mid 40's. Today it started with the belt screeching again. What do I need to check? My setup page
It worked fine last summer after I changed the evap and accumulator. I was hoping I did not put too much Freon in the other day.
I checked the belt and tightened it a little more but still the same. I wish I could find a crank pulley and water pump pulley that would allow me to put two belts on the compressor.
Remove/reclaim some refrigerant. What are your pressures running? Start up slipping can be caused by belt, too much oil or too much refrigerant. What brand belt are you using and how old is it? mike...
