This is the 2nd season for my TT2 wheels and last week I was cruisin' at about 65 mph and the left rear valve stem split. By the time I got it stopped my tire was ruined. It looks like maybe no lube was used to install the stem causing a small tear along the groove next to the rim. The stem hole in the rim seems awful sharp on the edge so I used a little emery cloth to deburr. Anybody else had trouble with valve stems in TT2's??
I think so too.........just glad I wasn't going real fast. I think I'll replace all 4 stems just to be safe and maybe use the standard rubber instead of the ones with chrome sleeves.
why not spend $10 and put chrome or aluminum ALL metal valve stems on?? I refurbished my orig alum wheels this spring and bought 4 of these from a local shop $8 + tax. just use a little blue loctite on assembly and your good to go.
I have TTII's on my truck. I was adding air to the front tires and I noticed that all four were starting to crack. I had to get one of them replaced with a rubber stem just to get it home. When I was fiddling with, it started losing air and I couldn't get it to seal up again.
