Default 71 lt1 ?

I have a 71LTI
Motor, Clutch(Luke), Flywheel are all re-built to original spec
All Knew Engine Mounts, Rad(DeWitt) and Shocks(Bilstein)
Sometimes when I am going to leave in first gear it seems the car is locked, and then I get a "clunk" and then it takes off
It only happens sometimes
Car otherwise shifts and drives perfect
Any ideas??

I am going to take a wild guess at this one. I am guessing that the transmission is still engaged in another gear as well as first gear when this happens. Try to recall what gear you were in last when this happens. I am guessing you will find it to be the same gear each time. Before you put the car into first gear, make sure that the transmission is in neutral by slowly letting off of the clutch when you think that the trans is in neutral. This will confirm whether you are still in another gear. This can be a symptom of a worn or out of adjustment shifter. Be advised that under the aforementioned condition, you can destroy your transmission! Let us know what you find out.
