Default 72 LT1 turn signals don't work

Just completed the restoration on my 72 Corvette LT1. Installed new wiring, etc. but the turn signals don't work. The 4 way flashers, brake lights, and the running lights do work.
I am getting a faint light when actuating either the LH or RH lever.
Anyone have this problem before? What might the cause be?
You comments will be appreciated.
Jim

Have you tested the turn signal flasher? Do you have a good ground on the forward lamp harness?

Thanks Mike, I will double check the ground on the forward lamp harness. I did replace the turn signal flasher. Jim

I'll chime in since I'm having the exact same issue on my '69.

Just to provide some backround. I've had the car 8 years with no electrical issues (texas car so very little corrosion) and the turn signals worked a couple of weeks ago. Car has not been restored and most parts are original.

My thinking, and I hope I'm wrong, the fact that the flashers work should eliminate body wiring issues, bad grounds, and a bad flasher since the flashers share the same components as the turn signals. All thats left then is the switch and wiring in the column.

Anyone have any other ideas? Because I'm not really excited about taking the column apart.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot with a meter?

Also, after a related parts search I noted that there is a capacitor, any idea where it is? I couldn't find it on my wiring diagrams. I would think that the flashers would use the capacitor as well so I'm doubting that its the issue.

I finally found my problem to be the turn signal flasher. I have two other flashers in the car and was checking the wrong one. As per help from this site, the turn signal flasher is under the passenger side dash and very easy to get to. The turn signals worked once I replaced the flasher.

The capacitor is there on cars with a radio so the radio doesn't make a popping noise with the flashers.

Question: Would one way to localize a ground issue grounding each actual turn signal light and if that solves the problem then you know the ground problem is somewhere there?
