Re: Any WorldCom employees on the C3 Board? (ylose)
All Corvette projects put on hold indefinately. :cry :cry :cry
Could be worse though, there a lot of people who will not have a job by the end of the week I think. Luckily I have prepared myself for this eventuality for quite some time. Only the Vette will suffer.

Good luck to you! My wife and I both work in Telecom which has been hit hard. My job is OK, but my wife works for Nortel which has also been hit hard. Her group has survived so far, but you never know these days.
Re: Any WorldCom employees on the C3 Board? (dladd74roadster)
I heard that and hope your are spared. What do you do there? Might be able to net work here on the forum. Round about it does effect your vette, right? Sorry for the untimely humor.

My brother (98 C5) works for 'em in Sacramento. I would bet he's holding pink slips... That part of the job sucks, then your expected to do even more, but without the needed personnel. Oh well, beats flippin' burgers.

17,000 will be laid off on Friday… wonder how many of those are Network/Switch Engineers. From what I understand the vast majority of the Wcom network is Nortel… not good for Nortel either, and the laid off Engineers will be hard pressed in a already saturated Cisco market.
Re: Any WorldCom employees on the C3 Board? (dladd74roadster)
I use to work for WorldCom. I've been a Sales Engineer in the Telecom / Internet space for many years, and in the last year it hasn't been too good for me. So, it was time for a change. I purchased a really neat Deli in Chelsea Michigan, http://www.mikesdeli.com Anyone that drives their Vette to the deli gets 10 percent off !!!
Re: Any WorldCom employees on the C3 Board? (Mike73)
The whole Telcom industry has been hit hard the last few years. I know my capital budget was just cut by $9M so we're not spending any capital on Nortel, Lucent, Cisco, etc.. products. I got a call from the sales rep from Nortel that I've been dealing with for the last 6 years and he got laid off on Monday. I wish everyone well that's currently in the Telcom industry or works for a company that has Anderson as their accounting firm.

Nothing worse than loosing your job. I caught a lot of lay offs at Chrysler in the early 80s. I hate to see anyone loose their job due to lay offs and plant closings. It is a shame that the lower level people get whacked and shafted as the upper echelon people get rewards and golden parachutes after trashing a good company. Roger L. Gibobns

I have spent over 20 years in the telecommunications industry working in the U.S and Canada and all I can say is The industry was a perfect set-up for all the scamers to enter the Market. They overbuilt like crazy
Like I have said the U.S used to be known as a safe heaven for your investments But now it has become "The Land of the afraid and the Scammers" Once again the investors and the employees will get it on the neck. Laying off 17,000 this friday then chapter 11

Where did you hear that term used for the US!!! I for one am proud of being an American, and proud of our free trade, and I resent you calling the Americans "Scammers and Land of Afraid"!! That 1% rating won't last long with insults like that.
Re: Any WorldCom employees on the C3 Board? (73-454)
If this "Land of the Afraid" ever turns it's back on our friends to the north You good sir , will have a new national language and it won't be English or French. :mad
