This is the first time I checked the timing on my 82 so it's a new experience for me. Anyway after disconnecting the EST I knew I would get a check engine light, no big deal. But now after reconnecting the EST and clearing the computer I still have the CEL on. My code is a 34 which is a map sensor. I have the factory manual and after following the instruction as far as jumping different pins it says if you still get a 34 then replace the ECM. WTF happened?? If by jumping the pins on the map sensor leads you to a code 33 then replace the map sensor. Well last year I replaced both and fortunately the ECM is still under warranty. My question is why would disconnecting the EST screw something up in the computer? I still thought about replacing the map sensor again just to be safe. What are your thoughts??
Yea I tried that several times. Oh well it's fine now.
Glad you got squared away, and that it is running good. I have yet to check the timing on mine, as it is also running good, and I just haven't allotted the time to do so......I still haven't put in the Hypertech chip I got last year. Just been busy with everything else......
