How should the cabels from my original 69 harness be connected to the LS3 Starter ?
There is 5 cables ín the 69 harness and 3 connections on the starter ( 2 big and 1 small )
Should it be connected like this ?
Black ( from bat ): to lower connection on the starter.
Red : to lower connection on the starter.
Black : Ground.
Purple : to upper connectionon the starter.
Yellow : to the small connector on the starter.
Battery cable and Red wire go on the top large connection on the Solenoid
Black grounds to engine block
Purple goes to the small connection on the solenoid
Yellow is not used. On your stock engine it went to the coil to provide 12 volts while cranking.

The starter looks like this, should no cable be attached to the lower big terminal ?
No cable on the bottom stud. When you turn the key to start, power is applied to the purple wire and it pulls in a contact plate inside the solenoid and it connects the top stud to the bottom stud inside the solenoid. That's how the starter gets its power.
