hey guys i replaced my ball joints and tie rods a few months back. took the car to get alligned and the problem is still there. when i turn the wheel to the left the tire hits the back of the wheel well/fender. i have no idea what it could be and it seems that it got worse since it was alligned a few months ago eventhough i havent driven it more than 20 miles since i repleced the things stated above?any ideas or any shops in central/northern cali(monterey bay) that can tell me whats wrong with my car. i dont trust crappy mechanics hahaha and id rather pay to get the job done right just not pay an arm and a leg haha thanks in advance
I know mine rubbed on the frame where the bolts for steering box are located. I had the alignment done by a reputable shop here in town and it fixed the issue. Check the stop bolt to see if it is present and hitting the spindle.
in a way it seems like the wheel is further back in wheel well and not in the middle with equal spacing on front and back of tire. the passing side seems fine and doesnt hit

Bigeddie,
There are two highly qualified people I can personally recommend and the nearest bloke to you is Dave Herlinger at 1230 Pear Avenue in Mountain View on 650-969-5351. He rebuilt the trailing arms on the '74 coupe that I bought from SolidLT1 in Fremont.
The other is Pat Hendrix at Precision Motive at 25789 Dollar Street in Hayward, 510-886-0789. While he works on many different cars, he speaks Corvette. He's a little further away, but has a big shop with several qualified employees and, depending on work load, may get the job done quicker.
Have it looked at professionally, then you can decide if this is something you want to tackle yourself. IMO if you have stock wheels you should not have tire rub.
Really?
I was about to start looking into my occasional rub on a left turn. Is it not really an issue? stock tires/wheels.
I didnt think it was normal.
What I said was, that it is normal for the tire to rub the inner-fender near the frame. That would be on a full turn not a partial turn. Most rubs on a partial turn would be on the tip of the rocker molding or at the fender. When those cars were equipped with larger tires and aluminum rims, the factory trimmed out the fenders to keep it from rubbing. Rubbing also occasionally occurs when the suspension is in torsion, like when turning over a curbing and one side is driven up.
It sounds like there may be some other things going on with the OP`s situation.
thank you aussiejohn.... any idea what this would cost as i am a college student
I can tell you in AUstralian dollars, but the exchange rate is all over the place lately, so that wouldn't help you much. Seriously, I have personally dealt with Dave and Pat, and they are straight shooters, at least take your car to them and have an expert tell you what is wrong and approximately how much it will cost you to have them fix it.
You will then be in a position to determine if and when you can afford it.
I haven't had a chance to try him yet but Jim More in Santa Cruz has been recommended to me.(831) 479-0753
"More Service has been serving the Santa Cruz area for 20 years, we specialize in front suspension, brakes, axles, and wheel alignment. We service all types of vehicles, and offer efficient and high-quality service."

thank you all...however it was not a suspension rather fabrication problem... my wheel itselve was moving back and forth in wheel well. turns out that the bridge in the lower coontrol arm was coming apart along with the shity weld they had done previously to fix this and missing parts that hold the lower control arm to chasis or whatever.. i just know that i took to a machine shop and they said they would fix it. 400 bucks and they take everything off and weld and fabricate the missing part too.ill have some pics later to show what they did
