A6 A/C compressor rebuild
Where do I get any gaskets and seals for it that would be R134/A compatible?
Thanks, guys-----
, pulley, cylinder heads and cylinder body) is not that bad, all you would need are seal and clutch hub tools the pulley requires a puller and a stand off to protect the shaft from being pushed onto the wobble plate, the shaft seal will not seal if this happens. Taking care I have removed the pulley with a brass drift and B*H.
It is not a simple task to completely disassemble the body, some of the parts are not readily available. In the 60's and 70's I did all the A/C work in the local Chevy/Olds dealership. Warranty required any failed compressor had to be rebuilt. All the internals, thrust bearings, piston shoes and ***** were set as close to 0" tolerance as possible, a 0 set on the front mass was required so that the shaft seal would seal. A clamp was used to force the cylinder halves tight so the "set up could be gauged. The transfer tube between the cyl halves was replaced by a tube, caps and "O" rings to seal the tube I have not seen on of these in years.
If you have the manual, time and a lot of thrust bearing races and wobble shaft shoes to make the fit, all is good. I think I still have some of the parts...somewhere.
Look in the manual to get an idea of the tools and process.
I suggest it best is to buy a recon unit, it would be 134a ready..be sure use PAG oil
