Hey guys i know ac can be a tricky fix,
So if anybody could just give me information on
The wiring that would be great, and please for no
Suggestions just telling me to take the tops off and
Roll the windows,
I just wanna know how many plugs, what colors the wires
Are and where they go (from the switch to the compressor etc..)
Any information will be greatly appreciated
I have the same year, (early edition) and got a laminated coloured wiring diagram from one of the vendors. With the AIM manual, shop books and advice you will have no trouble.
What is the problem? A/C won't work, looks like compressor not turning on? Has the wiring been apart and you need to put it back together?
I had a problem with the A/C and the compressor wasn't turning, started to search how to test to see if it had power, how to get the compressor to turn on, etc.. I just brought it to an A/C shop and they worked on it. Turns out the compressor didn't turn on just because the pressure was low in the system.
Save yourself some grief and consider just have someone look at it who knows the system. Maybe they can evaluate it and give you an estimate on what it wrong. Maybe simple, maybe not but it pays to have someone experienced give advise here.
I was able to get mine going by using a lurbicant designed for both r12 and r134a... its supposed to make any old lubricants work with the new lubricant and it allowed me to recharge the system with a cheap $30 retrofit kit and that was last year.... I also replaced a melted relay for $14 the car is not on the road since I'm in the process of an engine swap but as of two weeks ago the AC was tested and still working. this is on an original 74 system.... if you Google it you'all find a nice step by step article... I believe "corvette fever" magazine posted it along with many other useful guides for restoration and common repairs..
I should add I used the super arctic 134a not standard because I read the old system wouldn't hold enough standard 134a to work well.
