Default Panel adhesive

I have about 2/3 tube of 3M 08115 two part epoxy adhesive. Would that work ok to bond my replacement driver-side quarter panel splash shield on my 76? Any other recommended products? I did not see many posts for this adhesive, but 3M says it is supposed to work on SMC.

I would never start a job without knowing if I had enough, I'd be worried I would run out.

I don't use the 3m stuff I use the SEM 39747 and we scuff everything with 50 grit before we bond. The data sheet on this can be found online at 3M but as long as your bonding smc to smc there shouldn't be any problem if the label say's it will glue smc.

The SEM looks more versatile. Do you know if it will it work with the 3M gun?

Nope.. I don't know, sorry...

All I ever use is the SEM and that is the sad part about the new adhesives, most require a different gun.

A friend of mine has a gun that will shoot both, or so he says.... But if you have a specific gun for 3 M I don't know the answer... You might take the gun to your local distributor and see if it will work before you purchase.

The SEM glue.. we joke in the shop that it would glue oil to water if you could scuff it properly...

The SEM gun and the 3M gun that I have are two different animals.

I had excellent results bonding a door skin on my 1968 with West System 610. It's marketed for marine applications but it appears to be similar to automotive panel bond adhesive. Best of all, it works in a standard caulking gun (a heavy-duty gun, not the $5 jobs). If you use the self-mixing nozzle that comes with it, do yourself a favor and open up the tip a little bit. I didn't really trust the tips to mix the product well enough, so I just did it by hand.

This stuff is great too. I'm using it for the tail panel on my '72 ... super stuff - and if you already have the correct gun ....
