This isn't Corvette specific, but it's for my 'vette, and there's a buncha smart, helpful people on this forum, so I figured I'd give it a shot here. Can anybody tell me where I can purchase a 4-hole, phenolic, 1 inch thick carb spacer for a Holley 1850 with 1 9/16" holes? Can't seem to find one anywhere. Do they exist? Or are they all made larger so as to be a more universal fit? Thanks in advance for any help,
Here ya go. 7 pages of phenolic spacers. These are essential if you are running a heat sink prone Edelbrock.
Its funny edelbrock carbs take a lot of heat here (not literally) but I noticed this past Wednesday at a large carshow that the majority of the cars had edebrock carbs on them... Yes their were holleys and even quads on the stickers but by far the most common Carb was the carter/Weber/edelbrock series that everyone hates so much...

I wonder if this is because you can get a carb writhe the top end combos that edelbrock sells?

Simply because they are the most abundant aftermarket carb and they are very easy to maintain, tune and install. Ive run several Edelbrocks in the past (for the above reason) but they do have their weak points.

OK, maybe I'm being a little obtuse here. My point is that none of them say what diameter the holes are. I've finally broken down and sent Summit a message asking them if they have any 4-hole, phenolic spacers with 1 9/16" holes. Waiting to hear back from them.

Circle track racers us 1/2 inch.. The A/F is heading straight down and at some point has to take a nearly 90 degree angle to the intake valve. Tall single planes only use a 1/2 inch wood spacer.
As to matching the throttle blades size. is a mute point

Really? I figured it was important to match the spacer hole diameter with the throttle bore diameter. And, wouldn't a wood spacer eventually rot out from the gasoline? Especially if it was made of plywood?
I don't understand what you mean by "sold as 4150 size". 4150 style carbs come with several different throttle bore sizes.
I am all ears, i had a 4 hole spacer ( don't know what size ).
Am now using an open chamber one on my Edelbrock and holly 1850 to reduce the heat to the carb.
Is this good/bad idea? Guess i should check out my bore spec also.
My company makes Woodfiber laminate spacers for Edelbrock. They are a composite of wood and plastic. We make a 1" thick, 4-hole spacer. These are made in the USA (Seattle, right below my office). When I get to work tomorrow, I will double check the diameter, but they should match the diameter of the Holly carb.
I actually just installed a 4-hole spacer on a Edelbrock 1406 carb on a Edelbrock 2101 manifold, trying to combat a vapor lock/fuel percolation problem on my 74. The car ran so badly with the spacer that I immediately took it back off. I assume there are carb adjustments that have to be made when these spacers are installed. I don't know enough about adjusting carbs at this time to make those adjustments, so I took it back off. It will be nice when the cooler weather comes back so I can not have to worry about this problem, and getting stranded as a result.
My spacer was wood, purchased from Jegs. I fully believe that this is the right solution to the problem just need to be aware that it may require other adjustments...not always just plug and play.

true, I wasn't necessarily defending them myself but My car came with one and since they are easier to maintain and setup they do have some advantages there.....
One could say the Holley is so popular for the same reasons.... ask anyone who knows very little about engines and they think the "Holley double pumper "is the ultimate bolt on mod of course the 750 is used regardless if its way too big for the engine or not..
Anyway back on topic....
I was given a couple 4 hole spacers but they are 2" and plastic
