I just purchased from an estate a really nice '76 L48 corvette. The problem that I'm finding is when the heater dial/control is set to cool and the vent setting to "off" it seems that at at bit below highway speed there is al lot of heat coming into the passenger compartment. Is this normal? Is there a control/flap/?? somewhere I need to have replaced or?? A guy suggested cutting the heater hoses and putting manual shutoff valves in them...but that seems pretty radical.... Thank you.
Its not radical, its practical. Thats the best way to cut the heat off to the inside.
There is a flap that lets outside air in, and it is often inoperable. The factory often pinched off the vacuum line to it when the body was put together. Look on the RH side down under the screen on the cowl at the rear of the hood. The flap is just below the screen down in the well. It should close up when max air is selected.
